Biography

Andreas Luible studierte nach seiner Ausbildung zum Zimmermann an der TU München Bauingenieurwesen und arbeitete von 1999 bis 2004 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am ICOM (Institut für Stahlbau) an der EPFL in Lausanne im Bereich Stahlbau, Verbundbau und konstruktivem Glasbau. Seine Doktorarbeit über die Stabilität von Tragelementen aus Glas schloss er 2004 ab. Bis 2012 war er als Senior Fassadeningenieur für die Unternehmen Schmidlin Fassaden Technologie AG, Josef Gartner Switzerland AG und YUANDA Europe Ltd für zahlreiche Fassadenprojekte in Europa im mittleren Osten und in Asien verantwortlich. 

2010 wurde Andreas Luible Leiter des Kompetenzzentrums Fassaden und Metallbau sowie Dozent für Fassadenbau an der Hochschule Luzern Technik und Architektur. Ab 2017 leitete er das Kompetenzzentrum Gebäudehülle.  Mit der Zusammenlegung der Forschung am Institut für Bauingenieurwesen (IBI) übernahm er 2019 mit dem neuen Kompetenzzentrum Gebäudehülle und Ingenieurbau (CC GH+IB) die Gesamtverantwortung für die Forschung am IBI. Im Jahr 2022 wurde Andreas Luible zum Leiter des Instituts für Bauingenieurwesen gewählt.

Seine Forschungstätigkeit konzentriert sich auf die Bemessung von Glas, neue Fassadentechnologien und Materialien, Windengineering, digitale Methoden in der Gebäudehülle, die Entwicklung energieeffizienter und adaptiver Gebäudehüllen. Neben seinem Engagement in zahlreichen Fachverbänden ist Andreas Luible Präsident der SIA Normenkommission 268 «Glasbau», Mitglied der Kommission für Tragwerksnormen KTN beim SIA, Mitglied in der Europäischen Normenkommission CEN/TC250-SC11 «Structural Glass», Mitglied im European Facade Network sowie Vorstandsmitglied und Vertreter der Schweiz in der Windtechnologischen Gesellschaft e.V.. Von 2016 bis 2018 leitete er die COST Action TU1403 «Adaptive Facades Network».
