2. Technology and Democratic Culture – Participation, Transparency and Empowerment
How can digital technologies make power, access, identity, and decision-making processes fairer, more transparent, and more participatory? We explore how blockchain infrastructures, digital identities, DAOs, and tokenomics enable new forms of organizational governance and coordination, and open up new opportunities for participation and empowerment of individuals and communities. In doing so, we examine how programmable rules, decentralized decision-making mechanisms, and token-based incentive systems transform legitimacy, accountability, and institutional trust. We understand digital technologies as malleable power architectures that can expand participation but also create new inequalities.
