• In the medical and healthcare sectors, immersive technologies are a permanent feature among commonly used tools and methodologies: they are used for surgery planning and visualization, during surgeries and for the training of medical staff. But there are interesting applications outside the operating room, too.  Immersive technologies are also used to treat psychosis and phobias and to train damaged brain areas in stroke patients. 

• In architecture and interior architecture, designers are keen to show their clients accurate representations of their building or redecoration projects. They typically do this using 3D visualization techniques. If we take this one step further, the image becomes more realistic still. A virtual building can be pasted into its actual physical environment with augmented reality to show its owners how it will look on the site and in relation to its adjacent buildings. Virtual reality also makes rooms accessible before they have been built.

These are just some examples of how immersive technologies are already being used in practice. In future, there will be many more.  The design and realization of such applications requires professionals and specialists with expertise in the field.
