Andrea Weber Marin studied environmental sciences at ETH Zurich and did her PhD in process engineering. She completed a teaching course for higher education. After and during her postdoc studies at ETH Zurich at the Institute of textile machinery and production and her employment at CIBA Basel she started lecturing at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences & Arts. 2009 she was appointed vice dean. 2017 she became head of engineering and research at the school of engineering & architecture. As member of the University management Andrea Weber Marin is responsible for the strategic development for the engineering part of the departement and research.
Her own research is focussed on textile and design. She is head of the Competence Center Products & Textiles at the departement of Design & Art and project head of several Innosuisse projects with industry and research partners from the fields of textile, design and architecture. She was nominated with her team for Design Prize Switzerland for a number of research projects and awarded with the price in 2015. She did a number of publications and presentations at national and international conferences. She is member of Swiss Texnet, member of the board of several SCCER, member of the stearing committee of the Lucerne Energy & Sustainability commission, member of Swiss Engineering and Swiss Textile Network.
