The website was created as part of the SNF project
Ultrashort – On the Medial Logic of the Shortest Audiovisual Forms, which in 2014–2017 dedicated itself to researching ultrashort moving images with a duration of fewer than 30 seconds. The website bundles a wide variety of ultrashorts, selected entries from the HSLU's 5–10–20 competition from 2007–11, and material collected from social media channels or advertising in 2013–17. These short films are supplemented by video interviews with Florian Krautkrämer, Peter Beck, Ottmar Ette and Matthias Thiele, each segmented into short audiovisual units. The audiovisual material is organized in thematic clusters by tags and linked to a glossary that provides both terminology and historical deep drillings on various areas of ultrashorts. The website is not a completed project publication, but an exemplary collection of ultrashorts, interviews, texts and glossary terms, which will be continued.
