According to our academic regulations (Art. 16; 1 and 5), students must have successfully completed their assessment semesters to be eligible for their first semester abroad. Generally, this means 60 ECTS. To be able to apply for your first semester abroad, the minimum number of ECTS credits is 54 ECTS credits accumulated from the first two semesters (assessment modules). Additionally, all non-native speakers of English must be able to provide valid, authenticated proof of C1 English language proficiency. For detail on explanations of English language proficiency, please consult our website. Non-fulfilment of these requirements means that you will not be allowed to go on your semester abroad. Students who attain 60 ECTS credits have free choice of partners, whereas, students who achieved 54 ECTS credits, instead of the standard 60 ECTS, will be allocated to a partner university in Europe.
Detailed timeline information can be found in this document here.
It is each student's responsibility to obtain any necessary student visas, entry visas or visitors visas for their mandatory semester abroad in their country of choice. Different countries have different processes and the length of time it can take to obtain visas can vary considerably, also based on the student's country of origin or which passport they hold. The host university usually supplies the required documentation in support of any visa requirements.
The Swiss European Mobility Fund, or SEMP, is a fund to promote student mobility within Europe and is funded by the Swiss government. What this means for International IT Management bachelor students is that you may be eligible for funding for your mandatory semester abroad for certain destinations in Europe (and a handful outside of Europe). It is important to note that this funding is limited and even if more than one student chooses the same partner university, not everyone might or will be awarded funding. Any SEMP funding which might be applicable for mandatory semesters abroad, will be granted in a lottery system in the interests of fairness. If there is a particular university / college which is eligible for SEMP funding, you'll see a note to this effect under the particular university / college listing in this portfolio.
