Replacement
Employees and students will be charged a replacement fee of CHF 50.00 for the substitution of their HSLU-Card. The replacement fee may be waived in cases of age-related wear and tear (card is more than 2½ years old) or defects which aren't the cardholders fault. Any remaining balance on a lost, stolen, or defective HSLU-Card will be paid out in cash upon request within 30 days of the card being blocked. Any defect or loss of the HSLU-Card must be reported immediately to the reception desk or the administration (T&A: Departmental Services) so that the card can be blocked immediately for your and our security.
Returning the HSLU-Card
The HSLU-Card does not need to be returned after completing your studies or upon leaving the university of applied sciences. To receive a refund for any remaining credit, please contact the reception staff or administration (T&A: departmental services) of your department within 30 days.

Validity of the HSLU-Card
In order for the HSLU-Card to be valid, it must hold the holder's specific data, i.e. be validated at a validation station. The physical HSLU-Card can still be validated at the validation stations until the end of 2025. From 2026 onwards, these stations will be gradually removed, which means that card validation will no longer be possible in the future. From that point onwards, the digital ID card in the wallet will serve as the ID card for all HSLU members. The card may not be passed on to third parties. Please keep your HSLU-Card away from strong magnetic fields (e.g. Mobile phones).

Validation stations are installed on the main sites of all six Schools of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. HSLU-Cards can be validated at any of the stations.

Access
If the HSLU-Card is used as authorisation to access rooms and buildings, it must be updated every 30 days with an online card reader at the main entrance (with the exception of the Lucerne School of Business).
