Mirko Kleingries (*1976) completed an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic after graduating from high school and completing his basic military service. He then studied general mechanical engineering at the University of Essen until 2004. From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Kleingries worked as a project engineer at the Oel-Waerme-Institut GmbH (OWI) in Herzogenrath in the High Temperature Process Engineering department. In 2006, Mr. Kleingries began his doctorate in the field of high-temperature corrosion at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) in Aachen, which he completed in 2010 with distinction and the Borchers badge for outstanding scientific achievements. He is co-founder and limited partner of three companies operating wind power plants and a PV solar power plant, which generate a total annual yield of 13 GWh of electrical energy. Since 2015, he has also been co-owner of Alera energies AG in Hochdorf, a company that offers services and product/process development for thermal energy systems. Since 2010, Mr. Kleingries has been working at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts - Engineering and Architecture, initially as a Senior Research Associate in the Competence Centre Thermal Energy Systems & Process Engineering (CC TEVT). Since 2013, Mr. Kleingries has been a full-time lecturer in the field of thermodynamics and energy process technology both in bachelor's and master's degree courses MSE, and since 2018, Mr. Kleingries has also been in charge of continued education at the Institute for Mechanical Engineering and Energy technology IME. In the field of research, Mr. Kleingries has been head of the SORPTION research group, which develops technical sorption processes for energyc applications, since 2013. He is the author of numerous publications both for journals and conferences.
