Biografie

Johannes Binotto, Dr. phil. (*1977) ist Kultur- und Medienwissenschaftler, Senior Lecturer für Film- und Medientheorie, amerikanische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft, sowie Experimentalfilmemacher und Videoessayist.

Studium an der Universität Zürich, danach wissenschaftlicher Assistent am English Department der Universität Zürich. Promotion mit einer  Studie zum Unheimlichen als räumlichem Phänomen in Theorie, bildender Kunst, amerikanischer Literatur und Film (erschienen 2013 bei Diaphanes unter dem Titel TAT/ORT. Das Unheimliche und sein Raum in der Kultur). Danach Vertretungsprofessur am Seminar für Medienwissenschaft der Universität Basel, sowie Lehraufträge an den Universitäten Luzern und Basel. 

Zu seinen Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören die Schnittstellen zwischen Film- und Medientheorie, Technikforschung und Psychoanalyse, sowie Videoessay als wissenschaftliche Forschung.

Neben der Dozentur für Filmtheorie an der Hochschule Luzern Design+Kunst lehrt und forscht Johannes Binotto auch am English Department der Universität Zürich. Aktuelle Forschungsprojekte: "Mittel der Entstellung: Zu einer Poetik der Filmtechnik" (Habilitation); "Video Essay: Futures of Audiovisual Research and Teaching" (videoessayresearch.org)
