Specialised Databases Provide a good overview of current specialist knowledge in practice, the media and universities

Specialised databases are the right tool for searching for articles from journals and chapters from anthologies. A distinction is made between full-text and reference databases:

  • Full-text databases offer direct access to the entire text (e.g. PDF).
  • Reference databases only show the title, abstract and source; the full text must then be obtained (e.g. via the swisscovery search portal).

The Database Information System (DBIS) lists all specialist databases and portals that are freely available or licensed by the HSLU.

Business Source Premier

This database offers specialist articles, industry information and business magazines (e.g. Harvard Business Review). AI-supported summary of content. Mostly in English.

WISO

Practical economics and social science content with numerous specialist articles and e-books (including Schäffer-Poeschel, Haufe). Focus on German-language literature.

Web of Science

Interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed research literature, including citation details.

Company data and statistics

Statista

Statistics platform with data, studies and infographics on the economy, markets, society and consumption.

Orbis

Company database with global financial figures and company data.

Bloomberg

Bloomberg terminals are available for researching financial market data at the HSLU Library of Computer Science and Business in Rotkreuz.
