Minor

Minors Program in the Bachelor program Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a universal technology that plays an increasingly important role in automating business processes across many industries. By selecting a group of optional modules on top of their core studies, AI+ML students can acquire an additional profile, called a Minor. The Minor program sets an extra focus point on top of your studies. If at least 15 credits from the selected Minor program are completed, the corresponding qualification is added to the Diploma received at graduation. The Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning offers four different Minors, listed below.

  • Information- & Cyber-Security
  • Software Engineering
  • Medtech & Healthcare
  • AI Robotics

Minor Information- & Cyber-Security

Information- & Cyber-Security is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and databases from digital attacks. Implementing effective cybersecurity measures is particularly challenging today because there are more devices than people, and attackers are becoming more innovative. Everyone relies on critical infrastructures such as power plants, hospitals, and financial services. Securing these and other organizations is essential to keeping our society functioning. In this Minor, the student will learn important concepts and methods in information- and cyber-security, data privacy and information security management.

Minor Software Engineering

The minor in Software Engineering is essentially about how project teams and the software process are organized, how requirements are elicited, negotiated and described, how an appropriate architecture and design is created, and how it can be ensured that the software product has the required quality. Creating extendable and reliable software architectures is crucial and is often a requirement for every programmer. In this Minor, students will learn modern software engineering methods, application development for centralized and distributed systems, and the technical knowledge required to participate effectively in software engineering projects.

Minor Medtech & Healthcare

Medtech is the application of technical concepts to medicine and biology for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. This field seeks to close the gap between technical disciplines and medicine, combining the design and problem-solving skills of engineering and computer science with medical science to advance health care treatment. In this Minor, students will get an overview of the Medtech and Healthcare domains and learn the fundamentals of medical terminology, procedures, challenges and regulations. They will work on applications of machine learning in the medical domain and get exposure to the Medtech and Healthcare world through the contact with domain experts.

Minor AI Robotics

In the AI Robotics, students will learn to master the convergence of artificial intelligence and robotics, and creating intelligent, autonomous machines. They will explore the fascinating world of Drones & Swarm Intelligence, learning how to orchestrate drone fleets for various applications from surveillance to agriculture. Additionally, students will delve into the Internet of Things, connecting physical devices to the digital realm and analyzing data to make informed decisions using Digital Twins, to simulate and optimize complex systems. Students will understand these cognitive systems, preparing them to build and manage large-scale, real-world computing environments. This specialization empowers students with the expertise to lead in the cutting-edge field of AI robotics.
