Production and Manufacturing We drive digitalisation in production and manufacturing forward

The competence centre advances digitalisation in production and manufacturing. Whether it is a matter of new processes (such as additive manufacturing) or optimising process flows, the competence centre's expertise contributes to your success.

In the field of manufacturing, the Mechanical Systems Competence Centre focuses on the following areas:

Zerspanungstechnik

Machining

Increasing demands for higher energy efficiency progressively require materials that are challenging to machine. So-called «advanced materials» such as oxide ceramics, glass or sintered carbide are used more frequently. Since 2012, we have been offering machining with ultrasonic technology at CC Mechanical Systems. For this purpose, a 5-axis machining facility is available for the development of new products and materials.

Additive Fertigung: Das Kantonswappen von Uri wurde mittels additiver Fertigung hergestellt.

Additive Manufacturing

With the Mechanical Systems Competence Center's equipment, components can be realized that until recently were considered impossible to manufacture. As a result, new possibilities in the design of components, driven mainly by the component's function and less by the manufacturing process, are suddenly a reality.

Automatisierungstechnik: 2 Männer schauen auf einen Bildschirm neben einem Roboter

Automation Technology

Automation technology is directly anchored in the value chain of production plants. Mechanical, mechatronic, pneumatic and/or hydraulic solutions come together in the development process of automation systems and significantly determine the productivity and reliability of the entire system. Our focus is on the development of ideal production solutions for the smart factories of the future.

Industrierobotik: Mann mit steuert Roboter mit Controler

Industrial Robotics

Industrial robots have become an indispensable part of our workshops. They relieve us of repetitive, strenuous and dangerous work, take over night shifts and reliably do their job. With our research projects, we are constantly expanding the range of applications for industrial robots. The robots are becoming «smarter», more flexible and are increasingly working side by side with humans on joint tasks.

Sensorik: Mann prüft Daten auf verschiedenen Messgeräten

Sensor Technology

The Competence Centre Mechanical Systems has years of experience in research in sensor technology (piezoelectric effect, magnetostriction and many more).
