Mobile and Industrial Robotics Robotics and Industry 4.0 are not just fancy words for us.

Robotics and Industry 4.0 are more than just a trend: the range and potential of applications is gigantic. Together with other research units at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the Mechanical Systems Competence Centre implements sophisticated automated solutions.

Autonome Systeme und Robotik: Mann in Arbeitskleidung steht auf Bahngleis mit dem Controller für den mobilen Roboter nebendran in der Hand

In the field of autonomous systems, the Mechanical Systems Competence Centre focuses on the following areas:

Industrierobotik: Mann mit steuert Roboter mit Controler

Industrial Robotics

Industrial robots have become an indispensable part of our workshops. They relieve us of repetitive, strenuous and dangerous work, take over night shifts and reliably do their job. With our research projects, we are constantly expanding the range of applications for industrial robots. The robots are becoming «smarter», more flexible and are increasingly working side by side with humans on joint tasks.

Mobile Robotics

Whether tackling weeds in vegetable fields, collecting rubbish in pedestrian zones, or providing support in a nursing home: the requirements for mobile robots are very wide-ranging. The devices must be operated safely in the vicinity of people and be able to adapt to constantly changing circumstances.

Automation Technology

Automation technology is directly anchored in the value chain of production plants. Mechanical, mechatronic, pneumatic and/or hydraulic solutions come together in the development process of automation systems and significantly determine the productivity and reliability of the entire system. Our focus is on the development of ideal production solutions for the smart factories of the future.

Sensorik: Mann prüft Daten auf verschiedenen Messgeräten

Sensor Technology

The Competence Centre Mechanical Systems has years of experience in research in sensor technology (piezoelectric effect, magnetostriction and many more).
