The degree must have been awarded by a university-level institution accredited according to the Swiss Higher Education Funding and Coordination Act (HEdA - see the swissuniversities.ch website) or by a university-level institution outside Switzerland which can be judged as worthy of such accreditation. Exceptions to the HEdA accreditation requirement in Switzerland can only be made for degrees awarded at a Swiss campus run directly by a foreign awarding university, or for degrees as part of which at least 60 ECTS (or equivalent) credits were studied for in-person at an awarding institution outside Switzerland worthy of such accreditation.

Depending on your programme of choice and country of origin, you will need to provide the following information and documents:
- Swiss social security number 
- Personal photo (portrait, no other persons or objects)
- Swiss matriculation number
- University admission qualifying certificate
- Swiss "Notice of removal from the register of students"
- National ID card, passport and residency permit

The following information, backed by the relevant references, diplomas and certificates, must be submitted:
- Academic qualifications
- Professional activity
- Internships
- Language skills

You may pay your application fee using a PostFinance Card (debit card), TWINT, a credit card (Mastercard or VISA) or PostFinance Mastercard® Value. Once the payment goes through, PostFinance will send you a confirmation of payment via email. If you pay by credit card on the website via payment service providers PostFinance or SIX, your surname, first name, address, post code, city, email address and credit card information will be forwarded to both your credit card issuer and credit card acquirer. If you decide to pay by credit card, you will be prompted to enter all the information required for the transaction.
The transfer and sharing of your personal data takes place in accordance with the provisions of the Swiss data protection legislation or the EU GDPR. If the EU GDPR applies, the legal basis is the fulfilment of a contract (art. 6, para 1, lit b of the EU GDPR).
