Teaching through English – Engaging International Classrooms – supports HSLU teachers in developing their effectiveness and impact when teaching their subject in English within a non-English-speaking setting. The course offers a practical and theoretical foundation for effective English-medium teaching and highlights the opportunities that international classrooms provide for professional growth and student engagement. Participants explore key aspects of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), including English as a lingua franca, inclusive communication, and classroom interaction. The course is aimed at both native and non-native English-speaking instructors who are teaching Bachelor’s, Master’s, or continuing education courses through English – or who plan to do so in the future.
Through interactive sessions, participants share their experiences and engage in micro-teaching on topics from their own subjects. Practice and classroom planning activities are followed by peer and instructor feedback as well as guided self-evaluation.
