How are design schools helping local communities advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)? This question guided the first phase of the Design Action Labs project, which brought together teachers and students from four Swiss design programmes to reflect on how sustainability is experienced and practiced in design education. The process showed that meaningful engagement with the SDGs depends not only on delivering content but also on cultivating the habits of mind that enable teachers and students to respond thoughtfully and creatively to real-world complexity.
