Biografie
Dr Anna Shvets is a Senior Researcher at the Immersive Realities Research Lab at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). Her interdisciplinary research lies at the intersection of immersive technologies, generative artificial intelligence, music, and creative practice. With a PhD in Computational Musicology and a background in classical music, composition, computer science, and AI, she explores how emerging technologies can create new forms of artistic expression and immersive human–computer interaction.
Her current research focuses on generative AI for XR, AI-assisted music and visual generation, audio-reactive environments, volumetric media, and music-driven worldbuilding. She investigates how computational systems can transform music into spatial, visual, and interactive experiences, with a particular interest in the integration of generative AI into real-time immersive environments and creative workflows.
Recent research projects include Music-Driven Worldbuilding, which explores an end-to-end pipeline for generating immersive VR environments from music and text using generative AI and Unreal Engine 5, as well as research combining Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF), Gaussian Splatting, and particle systems to transform musical compositions into interactive volumetric VR experiences. Her artistic research also includes Galaxy of Suffering and Shadows of the Rain, which explore AI-generated imagery, music, memory, emotion, and immersive storytelling.
Dr Shvets is an award-winning composer and programmer, as well as a certified deep learning engineer and full-stack web developer. Her work combines artistic practice with applied technological research, bridging composition, machine learning, computer graphics, and extended reality. She has presented and published her research internationally and has received research funding and recognition from organisations including UKRI and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
At HSLU, she contributes to the interdisciplinary research environment of the Immersive Realities Center, which brings together research, education, and knowledge transfer in augmented, mixed, and virtual reality. Her work contributes particularly to the exploration of new XR content technologies and creative applications of immersive media, with a focus on generative AI, music, and interactive experiences.
