Overview
The launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 marked a milestone in the accessibility of generative AI, enabling conversational interactions. Extensively tested by millions, its impact on Knowledge Management (KM) and Organizational Learning (OL) is widely debated. Generative AI (GenAI) has transformative potential in automating tasks, delivering innovative services, and generating insights. However, challenges such as content reliability, data quality, human oversight, and ethics persist. This project explores the interplay between GenAI, people, and processes in KM and OL within knowledge- and research-intensive firms (KIFs), aiming to develop concepts, recommendations, and tools for effective integration. The rapid pace of GenAI development leaves many companies, including large corporations, grappling with uncertainty about tools, providers, and compliance with strategies and regulations. Decision-makers often rely on limited options, like Microsoft, due to a lack of expertise. The project plans (1) a literature review of recent research, (2) refining research questions and company sampling, (3) case studies with potential Innosuisse partners to identify support needs, acceptance factors, and learning-promoting tools, and (4) building a network for a 2025 Innosuisse project application.
