Admission criteria

Requirements

Concurrent attendance of a school or vocational training ending in the same year as the preparatory course 

Place of residence

At least two years of residence in a Swiss canton before the start of Pre-College. Candidates living abroad are not eligible for the state-funded preparatory course. 

Age

22 years or younger (exceptions can be made)

Option «B»

Candidates wishing to attend the «B» option of the preparatory course (theory classes only) may do so without sitting an entrance exam. 

Prospective students from partner schools

Prospective students from our partner schools must pass the relevant admission procedure jointly organised by their school and the Lucerne School of Music: 

  • Entrance exam for the upper-secondary specialised school Seetal – Music profile 
  • Entrance exam for the Sport and Music class of the baccalaureate school Alpenquai
  • Entrance exam for the Sport and Music Class of the baccalaureate school Schüpfheim/Gymnasium Plus
  • Entrance exam for FREI’S Schulen
  • Entrance exam for the baccalaureate school Kollegium Schwyz (KKS) – Music talents
