Pre-College offers a comprehensive way to prepare for the entrance exam to the BA programmes offered by the Lucerne School of Music or another music college. It is available for the Classical Music and Jazz profiles and also offers main subject classes in Folk Music, Composition, Conducting/School Music, and Music and Movement.
Pre-College may be completed full time as an intensive, one-year pre-study course after finishing school, or part time as a preparatory course lasting three years maximum while attending upper-secondary education or vocational training. For students who are not eligible for cantonal funding, both models are available as option «A» (without main subject instruction) or option «B» (theory classes only).
While not compulsory for admission to the entrance exam to a BA programme, Pre-College is a recommended way to prepare for it. Students from the Canton of Lucerne attending Pre-College are automatically registered for participation in the «Junge Talente Musik» talent promotion programme.
