Sustainability survey

The sustainability survey conducted at Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology collected opinions, wishes, and ideas on sustainability from students and staff. Sixty-two people took part in the survey. The results show a fundamental interest in this topic.

Key findings at a glance: 

  • The majority of participants consider sustainability to be (very) important and actively promote it in their everyday lives
  • There is interest in more information about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Computer science can make an important contribution to sustainability
  • Sustainability in teaching, research, and on campus should be further promoted

 

Suggestions for improvement from the survey: 

  • Promoting sustainability on campus: eliminating disposable cups and introducing more zero-waste initiatives, such as encouraging students to use their own containers in the cafeteria and promoting waste separation even more
  • Further development of mobility services: promotion of bike sharing and sustainable travel policies
  • Teaching and research: Integrating sustainability into all degree programs and promoting sustainable research
  • Campaigns and awareness raising: Organization of workshops and awareness-raising activities
  • Community and networks: exchange groups with sustainable associations and cooperation with NGOs and regional partners

What happens next?

The survey shows a clear direction: Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Computer Science should further expand its commitment to sustainability. All interested parties are cordially invited to join the Impact Team.
