Evelyne Laube is a freelance illustrator and lecturer in illustration at HSLU D&K. Since 2008, she has been working at the illustration studio It's Raining Elephants and runs the label hoi Keramik in collaboration with Nina Wehrle. Their joint debut work Die Grosse Flut (The Great Flood) has won numerous awards and received international acclaim. After spending a long period working and living in Berlin, Evelyne Laube now lives and works with her family in Lucerne. She is co-founder of the Bolo Klub and is committed to the sustainable promotion of a new generation of picture book makers in Switzerland. Evelyne Laube has been head of the illustration program since 2023.

Johanna Schaible studied illustration at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2013. She has been teaching illustration there since 2025.
Her artistic practice lies at the intersection of illustration, art, and design, resulting in participatory projects, exhibitions, and publications.
Her picture book debut, Es war einmal und wird noch lange sein (Once Upon a Time and Will Be for a Long Time), has been translated into twelve languages, won the Swiss Children's Book Award in 2022, and was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in the same year. She loves to travel, and her work allows her to give readings, workshops, and meet people at festivals in Switzerland and abroad. She was also co-director of Pro Helvetia's first International Masterclass for Children's Book Illustrators in 2024.

Anna Haas is a visual designer and has been running her own studio since 2011.
She studied illustration at HSLU (Lucerne, Switzerland) and graphic design at Werkplaats Typografie (Arnhem, Netherlands). Today, she works primarily in the cultural sector as a book designer and poster artist, and illustrates for various magazines in Switzerland and abroad. She was the editor of Rivista Apparente, an independent publication format. In 2017, she launched the smartphone app “Book Cities,” a non-profit index of independent bookstores. In 2014, she founded the association IllustratorInnen Schweiz, which operates the platform of the same name.
Her work has been recognized internationally with prestigious awards, including the “Swiss Design Award” and “Most Beautiful Swiss Books,” “100 Best Posters DE, A, CH,” and the “Grand Prix of the 27th International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno.” She is a member of the SGD (Swiss Graphic Designers) and AGI (Alliance Graphic International).
Since 2014, she has been teaching D&K Visual Communication at the HSLU (Lucerne).
In terms of design, Anna Haas meanders between the now separate fields of illustration and graphic design, believing that both disciplines should complement and enrich each other rather than turning away from and excluding each other.

Nina Wehrle is a freelance illustrator and guest lecturer in illustration at HSLU – Design Film Art. She is co-founder of the illustration studio It's Raining Elephants and the ceramics label hoi Keramik. Her work has earned her international recognition and she has taught at various schools and institutions in Europe. Since 2016, she has been running the ceramics studio for children at the Willisau Special Education School. After spending a long period working and living in Berlin and Hamburg, Nina Wehrle now lives and works with her family in Lucerne. She is co-founder of the Bolo Club and is committed to the sustainable promotion of a new generation of picture book makers in Switzerland.

François Chalet worked as a graphic designer and illustrator until 1998, when he created his first animation for MTV Alarm, which was shown repeatedly on all tube televisions. Shortly thereafter, he published an early monograph and joined the renowned French agency Primalinea Productions in Paris, now known as 3.0 Studio. This was followed by numerous applied animations, animated video clips, and freelance work for various clients such as Expo.02 in Switzerland, Japanese companies such as Mitsubishi, Honda, and Nissan, Nuit Blanche in Paris, and Modeselektor in Berlin.
From 2005 onwards, Chalet expanded his linear formats and confronted his ideas in the field of animation with the performing and installation arts. He worked with the French dance company Thomas Duchatelet, for the Centre Georges Pompidou, and for director Volker Hesse on the opening of the new Gotthard Tunnel in Pollegio (Switzerland), among others. He developed and animated the little ghost for the Lucerne Theater and was the first to project a 360-degree image onto Lucerne's landmark, the water tower, for the Lucerne Light Festival in 2019.

Prof. Chalet was program director for the Bachelor of Animation at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts from 2008 to 2010 and has been teaching Expanded Animation ever since. Starting in fall 2025, he will also teach in the field of illustration. In the field of applied research, he worked on animated artificial intelligence (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts Design&Art), collaborated with the National Filmboard of Canada in the field of holography, and initiated a project in the field of augmented reality and animation with ETH Zurich.

Tabea Steiner is a Germanist and historian, co-organizer of literature festivals, serves on juries, and is a member of the RAUF writers' group. Her first novel, Balg, was nominated for the Swiss Book Prize. Her essays have been published in English translation in the volume Provinces, and her second novel will be published in spring 2023.

Sören Schmeling works as a lecturer, publicist, and curator at the intersections of art and media theory, politics, and society. Since 2018, he has been a lecturer in theory and history of illustration at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Design Film Art. Previously, he held teaching positions at the art history institutes of the Universities of Freiburg (2011/12) and Zurich (2017) and was a guest lecturer within the IDA modules (2017/18) at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Design Film Art and the Pedagogical Center Basel (2010–12). He studied art history, German language and literature, and business administration at the Universities of Freiburg i. Br. and Basel. As the initiator and director of the photo archive at the Kunsthalle Basel (2011-2020), he promoted the preservation of visual cultural assets and advocated for their analog and digital accessibility. This is also a major focus of his exhibition activities. Current research interests: artistic-political activism (dissertation: Gustav Metzger – The Artist as an Activist), perception of nature in art(-) and (natural) science.

Agnès Laube was born in Lengnau/AG in 1964. She has lived in Zurich since 1984 and partly in Stuttgart since 2018. From 1985 to 1989, she studied graphic design at the Zurich School of Design (now ZHdK). She has been working as a freelance designer since 1991 and as a lecturer and author since 2003. From 2011 to 2015, she headed the Master's program in Communication Design at the Bern University of the Arts. In 2016/17, she trained as a journalist. She currently teaches at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Department of Design, Film, and Art, and writes as a freelance author for Hochparterre, Buch&Maus, and her own publications. Her design focus is on signage projects. Her various skills come together in communication projects, which she oversees on a conceptual, design, and linguistic level.
