More information

Major Controlling & Accounting

Students in the Controlling & Accounting major deal with national and international accounting standards in Financial Accounting and Reporting. This lays the foundation for a later career in finance and accounting or auditing. Management Accounting and Controlling focuses on the instruments that can be used to provide effective management information in companies. Controlling thus makes an important contribution to strategy development and implementation. Effective budgeting, correct investment decisions, meaningful key figures and risk management are essential for both SMEs and large international corporations. An in-depth understanding of processes and business models is necessary for the successful use of these tools. In addition, digitalisation is influencing both business models and the activities of controllers. This major prepares students specifically for these challenges.

What does this major qualify for?

The major in Controlling & Accounting prepares you directly and practically for a career in the financial management of medium-sized and large companies or in auditing and fiduciary services. As a controller, you are a business partner to management and use controlling instruments in a targeted manner to advance products, services and companies. You will support companies in financial accounting and in the preparation of annual reports or audit the annual financial statements of companies as an auditor.
