Music, Movement, Mood and Parkinson’s ist ein internationales Projekt, das untersucht, wie Musik Menschen mit Parkinson dabei helfen kann, motorische und nicht-motorische Symptome zu reduzieren.

Dank einer Netzwerkförderung von Parkinson’s UK im Jahr 2018 konnten wir ein Team aus Menschen mit Parkinson, Wissenschaftler:innen und Praktiker:innen zusammenstellen, um eine Forschungsagenda zu entwickeln, die untersucht, wie Musik Menschen mit Parkinson helfen kann. Menschen mit Parkinson wollten vor allem wissen: Welche Musik wirkt – wann, wofür und wie?

Seit 2022, als wir Fördermittel vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds (SNF) und von Parkinson Schweiz erhielten, erforschen wir vier zentrale Konzepte in der Versorgung von Menschen mit Parkinson: i) Musik und Identität, ii) gemeinsames Musizieren, iii) die emotionale Wirkung des Musikhörens und -teilens, und iv) den Einsatz von Musik zur Motivation und Bewegungssteuerung.

Songlines for Parkinson’s ist ein neues, gruppenbasiertes Musik- und Bewegungsprogramm, das gemeinsam mit Betroffenen, Therapeut:innen, Mediziner:innen und Wissenschaftler:innen entwickelt wurde. Der Kurs kombiniert verschiedene musikbasierte Strategien – darunter Rhythmus- und Trommelübungen, geführte Musik- und Bewegungsimagination sowie Bewegung zu Musik – und trägt nachweislich zur Reduktion motorischer Symptome bei. Jede Woche steht unter einem eigenen musikalischen Thema, z. B. Marschmusik, Musik aus Afrika, Lateinamerika, Indien, Asien oder dem Südpazifik (ja, sogar ein Haka wird erlernt!). Darüber hinaus werden Musikstile von den 1950er-Jahren bis zu den 2000ern sowie Tanzformen wie Flamenco und Line Dance integriert. Jedes Thema fokussiert auf einen spezifischen therapeutischen Ansatz: Märsche fördern das Gehen im Takt, während der Haka auf Gesichtsausdruck und Stimmkraft abzielt.
In Studien in der Schweiz und im Vereinigten Königreich konnten wir zeigen, dass Songlines motorische Symptome reduziert, die funktionelle Beweglichkeit verbessert, soziale Verbundenheit stärkt und das langfristige Nutzen musikbasierter Strategien fördert.

Playlists for Parkinson’s entstand aus Umfragen, die wir in der Schweiz und im Vereinigten Königreich mit über 200 Menschen mit Parkinson durchgeführt haben. Dabei untersuchten wir, wie Betroffene Musik in ihrem Alltag nutzen. Die Ergebnisse bildeten die Grundlage für die neue Website www.Playlist4Parkinsons.com – eine webbasierte Ressource, die Playlists für Bewegung und Stimmung teilt, ergänzt durch persönliche Geschichten von Menschen mit Parkinson über Musik zur Motivation, Entspannung, Bewältigung der Diagnose, zum Gehen oder zur Wiederentdeckung der eigenen Musikalität. Die Seite bietet außerdem Tipps zur Erstellung eigener Playlists.

Musik ist immer persönlich – und obwohl wir keine spezifischen Lieder verschreiben können, zeigen wir, welche Arten von Musik helfen können, wie sie wirken und wie andere Menschen mit Parkinson Musik nutzen, um Bewegung und Stimmung zu verbessern.
