Research-artist duo Chloé Galibert-Laîné and Kevin B. Lee present their ongoing project "Bottled Songs", a series of video essays depicting their explorations of online terrorist media. Screening excerpts from the project, the artists will introduce their desktop documentary approach and discuss the cultures and affective dimensions of online spectatorship.
Chloé Galibert-Laîné and Kevin B. Lee are a filmmaking-research team specializing in videographic essays. Their work explores contemporary audiovisual media through online, amateur and found footage contexts in relation to the politics of authority, self-expression, and the histories and theories of cinema. In 2018 they were grantees of the Sundance Institute Art of Nonfiction Fund and artists-in-residence of the European Media Art Platform (EMAP). They have presented their works at the Austrian Film Museum, London Essay Film Festival, the Rotterdam International Film Festival, the Ars Electronica Festival and the Impakt Festival.
Chloé Galibert-Laîné is a French filmmaker and researcher. She teaches at Université Paris 8 and is currently writing a PhD at the art-research doctoral program SACRe (École normale supérieure de Paris). She directed several award-winning short fiction films and stage productions. Her video essays about film and media are regularly screened in academic contexts and film festivals. Her video essay "Flanerie 2.0" was selected one of the best video essays of 2018 in a survey by Sight & Sound.

Kevin B. Lee is a US-born filmmaker and critic. Over the last ten years, he has produced over 360 video essays exploring film and media. His award-winning film Transformers: The Premake played in several festivals and was named one of the best documentaries of 2014 by Sight & Sound. He was Artist in Residence of the Harun Farocki Institut in Berlin. He is now Professor of Crossmedia Publishing at the Merz Akademie, Stuttgart.
