Overview
An in-depth parameter study is conducted to identify key design parameters of the borehole array. The effect of these variables on storage capacity and performance is determined by systematically varying parameters such as diameter, length, and spacing. Results are validated and refined through numerical simulations, enhancing the understanding of optimal design configurations. A multi-physics modeling approach is applied to investigate the effect of soil moisture on BTES operation, particularly with respect to heat transfer and thermal losses. The aim is to provide insights to manage and mitigate performance limitations associated with soil conditions. The analysis also places a focus on the analysis both vertical and horizontal thermal stratification aiming to enhance exergy performance of the system.
