Overview
The aim of the Campus Living Lab is to use the planning and construction phase of the Horw campus to set up a living lab where students, researchers, faculty, and external partners can co-create and test solutions that promote sustainability and make it visible on campus. The use of the university campus as a living lab offers a unique opportunity to test new concepts and innovations in areas such as energy efficiency, sufficiency, circular economy, and human-centred design in a real-world, social context, while combining academic research with hands-on experimentation. In addition to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration among users, the Campus Living Lab aims not only to create an attractive working and learning environment, but also to transform the area under construction with pop-up activities into a vibrant and fascinating place.
The project "Student-driven sustainability initiatives on Horw campus" is part of the Campus Living Lab and aims to specifically promote student activities on the campus in Horw. We will launch a call for students to submit their sustainability targeted initiatives, which will be used to revitalize the current campus, transform the area and serve as suggestions for the use of the new campus. The call will enhance campus vitality, increase participation, and promote sustainable practices, which also contributes to the new campus development. The activities will be supported by professors, lecturers, and researchers involved in sustainability projects.
