Overview

"WILSON" addresses the sustainable operation and management of buildings and neighborhoods using data modeling and digital twin technology. Faced with the challenges of climate change, rising energy consumption and social inequality, the project emphasizes the need to adopt sustainable building practices that go beyond energy aspects and consider environmental, social and economic dimensions throughout the life cycle of buildings.

WILSON aims to increase sustainability through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and innovative management practices. The focus is on a decentralized data mesh architecture that is both independent of proprietary BMS (Building Management Systems) and interoperable with digital twin systems.

Key objectives include improving building operations, assessing environmental impact and improving building diagnostics and monitoring. Personalized data hubs will connect and integrate all of WILSON's solutions, following the principles of the International Data Space. These solutions will be complemented by an investment tool to support decisions on renovations and investments in renewable energy systems.

To maximize the impact across the EU, WILSON will validate and demonstrate its solutions in four large-scale pilot projects in different European countries.

The consortium comprises 16 partners, including research institutions, technology providers, an international data association and financial SMEs, with 50% of the partners coming from the SME and industrial sectors.

In total, the project aims to upgrade 200,000 m² of building space and reduce maintenance costs by up to 35%.

In the long term, WILSON aims to secure Europe's global competitiveness, data sovereignty and the achievement of EU energy and environmental targets by 2050, resulting in a highly energy-efficient and decarbonized building stock.
