Overview
The global energy transition is also leading to a profound transformation process at the regional level. There is great need for decision-making tools that take into account not only the energy implications but also the socio-economic implications of this transformation.
Our vision is a tool for the data-based, largely automated modeling of local energy value-added systems and the simulation of the regional economic impacts of local energy-related measures (e.g., expansion of PV or storage).
For this purpose, an Innosuisse application shall be elaborated with the following sub-objectives:
1. Development of an IT system for the integration of Open Big Data as input for scenario building.
2. Implementation of a tool for the scalable creation of regional energy development scenarios, with co-optimization for regional economic effects.
3. Development of structured processes to accompany and moderate tool-based decision making by regional users.
To achieve our goals, we rely on an interdisciplinary approach. First, we build on innovations in Open Big Data. Second, we further develop classical energy system models and link them to regional value creation models. Third, we are leveraging existing regional economic consulting expertise.
