SWEET LANTERN CC DEEP

The LANTERN project will assess the relevance of socio-technical aspects, e.g. social practices, use of technologies, norms and context of use with respect to the sustainable energy transition in Swiss households, leisure activities and workplaces.

Overview

Within LANTERN, the living Labs are set to foster a bottom-up dialogue with the citizens of each Urban Living Lab and relevant stakeholders. Non-technical challenges caused by the implementation of the physical and behavioural interventions are identified and analysed. CC DEEP is co-leading WP2 on set-up and scale-up.

Setting-up is based on a good understanding of the risks of implementation of the measures in each city, district or building; tailor-made neighbourhood-level and city-level physical and behavioural intervention plans are developed to maximise the desired impact while minimising the risks, challenges and barriers identified, thereby also coordinating and managing the relationship with the implementing cities and their local stakeholders. To integrate the stakeholders, a first stakeholders’ value analysis is developed.

Scaling up means expanding or replicating innovative pilot or small-scale projects to reach more people and/ or enhance the effectiveness of an intervention. WP2 has, therefore, two main objectives:

- Assessing the replicability within the Living Labs, which are situated in different cities and linguistic regions and are on different scales and maturity levels: a building (EMPA, Energypolis, CELL), a district (Lokstadt, Hobelwerk, Neuhegi, Wesemlin, LuzernSued, Aawasser, Qube, Techcluster Zug) or a city (Sion, Lugano, Winterthur).

- Applying trans-disciplinarity: the energy theme spans scales, sectors of activity and social contexts. In this WP, we will ensure the transferability of solutions from research to a real-life setup beyond existing and involved Living Labs.
