Proof of Concept Social Media Analytics

The goal of the project is to build the required infrastructure so that social media analytics can be run on Big Data. Initially, the focus will be on the evaluation of contributions that are related to Swiss tourism.

Overview

Specifically, we extract structured data based on semi-structured web data from the social media Qyer.com, translate it into English, and store it in structured form to analyze Chinese tourists in Switzerland. We answered the following questions with data analysis: Where are hotspots? How can individual tourists be identified and characterized in contrast to travel groups? Which motives do the target groups have? Are there identifiable clusters?
