Overview
The Innosuisse project “Augmented Planning” conducts practical research into the use of augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) for participatory urban planning. The new processes and digital tools developed in the project combine expertise from the fields of social sciences, design research and acoustics with new, immersive technologies.
The research knowledge generated in the project is used directly in the practical solutions developed and is documented as part of a toolkit for practitioners. However, Innosuisse funding only allows for a very limited connection to the scientific discourse. Two areas within the project are particularly affected by this:
A) Real-time AR auralization of urban soundscapes
B) Hybrid spaces and participatory urban planning: the potential of augmented reality using the example of Waldstätterstrasse in Lucerne
Through the detailed elaboration and theoretical foundation of the knowledge gained, we aim to increase the connectivity of our research, promote international networking and increase the visibility of applied research at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in scientific discourse. The project should make the results accessible beyond the specific case studies and make a sustainable contribution to the further development of participatory urban planning and soundscape studies.
