Open Science enhances the use and advancement of knowledge while increasing the credibility of science.

Open Science encompasses a range of activities designed to promote open scientific practices and processes; Open Access and Open Research Data are two main pillars of Open Science, which are elements of good scientific practice. 

The HSLU encourages its employees to make scientific processes transparent and scientific findings accessible and offers them support and advice. To this end, it has passed regulations on scientific integrity and an open science policy.

Research Data Management

Throughout its life cycle from gathering to archiving and publication, research data is subject to continuous management. RDM is the basis for transparent and reproducible research results, with the FAIR principles as the main guideline for publicly accessible data.

Open Access

Open Access means scientific information is freely accessible for everyone and available for further use to the greatest extent possible, be it locally, nationally or internationally. Open Access increases the visibility of research results both within and outside the scientific community, creating ideal conditions for interdisciplinarity, progress and innovation.
