Biography
Patric Eberle is a professor and head of the Sensor & Health Technologies research group at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences. He teaches in the Electrical Engineering and Medical Engineering degree programs. Since 2018, he has been a lecturer at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, and since 2020 he has been a research group leader. Patric Eberle holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ZHAW, a Master of Science in Micro- and Nanosystems and a Ph.D. in Thermo-/Nanofluidics, both from ETH Zurich. At ETH, he investigated precisely nanostructured surfaces to retard ice formation and nanovalves to trap and guide single particles and biological macromolecules in nanofluidic systems.
Patric Eberle has extensive industry experience, ranging from development engineer to project manager to head of research and development. He has worked, among others, at Bruker AG (medical technology), SKF AG (electronics for mechatronic systems), and Balluff AG (sensor technology/electronics). His professional background spans a broad spectrum, from industrial automation to diagnostics and medical devices.
Patric Eberle’s current research interests include advanced sensor technologies, photonics, and electronics in combination with AI. His work encompasses both basic and applied research and aims to translate research results into impactful innovations. He focuses on biomedical applications and automation, while his research is also applied in other fields. To this end, he collaborates with research institutions and industry partners to develop interdisciplinary solutions.
