HSLU Foundation is seeking dedicated donors and partners in furtherance of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

By contributing, you help to sustainably promote talent, innovation and research. Your support not only strengthens Central Switzerland as a center of knowledge, but also advances important research topics, enables young people to pursue a solid education and fosters the specialists of tomorrow.

Thanks to this valuable commitment, the HSLU Foundation can provide targeted assistance to students at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. This includes emergency aid in the form of one-time payments for students facing short-term financial hardship, as well as the Rigi Scholarship, which provides financial support to bachelor’s and master’s students.

Rigi Scholarship for bachelor’s and master’s students

The HSLU Foundation awards scholarships to bachelor’s and master’s students. The annual application window is open between late August and late September: applications may be submitted and will be considered during this period only. An application form will be available online at this time.

This scholarship is funded by a donation from a private foundation.

Rigi Scholarship is intended for:

  • prospective or current bachelor’s and master’s students at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Engineering and Architecture, Business, Social Work, Design, Film and Art, and Computer Science and Information Technology.
  • with Swiss citizenship or permanent residence in Switzerland for at least 10 years
  • who can prove that they cannot afford the costs associated with a bachelor’s or master’s programme, that their family do not have the means to support them, and that they do not have access to other scholarships.

The maximum scholarship amount awarded will be CHF 5,000 per semester. There is an option to extend the scholarship period until completion of the bachelor’s or master’s degree, but by no more than six semesters.

Emergency Assistance for students

The HSLU Foundation helps students who find themselves in a short-term financial emergency. The emergency fund makes one-off payments only. Its capital is from private donors.

Who can apply?
All students (bachelor’s or master’s) at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts can apply for support if they experience exceptional financial hardship.

How much will you receive?
The fund’s resources are limited; payments are capped at CHF 1,500.

How often can you apply?
If you have previously received an emergency assistance payment, you cannot apply again. If you have unsuccessfully applied for assistance in the past, you may apply again.

Who decides on the application?
The decision rests with the HSLU Foundation Board.

Do not apply if:

  • you have not started your studies yet,
  • you are currently on leave,
  • you need a scholarship,
  • a family member has a financial problem,
  • you are unable to prove that your financial problem is temporary and will have resolved itself within the next few months.

Please note that the fund has been exhausted for this year and therefore no applications can be submitted at this time.
