Dawn Rose is music psychologist working as a Senior Research Associate at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences & Arts in Switzerland. Her research focuses on the use of music and movements in Parkinson's rehabilitation, and the effects of musical learning on cognition, motor behaviour and socio-emotional wellbeing.
Dr Rose completed an MSc. (Music, Mind and Brain) and Ph.D. (supervised by Professor Pam Heaton and Dr Alice Jones Bartoli) at Goldsmiths. Prior to that she taught artist development at the British & Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM).
Dr Rose is a member of the International Judo Research Unit (iDojo) at the University of Hertfordshire, and a professional member of the British Association for Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES).
Dawn is also a professional drummer (The Frog Princess - Punked*, Rantipoles, Gertrude, Right Said Fred, Altered Images) and a martial artist, holding black belts in Danzan Ryu Ju Jitzu and Tae Kwon Do.
