Academy for contemporary Music Monday, 20th to Friday, 24th February 2023

International Master classes Lucerne

Over the course of five intense days of masterclasses, individual lessons, workshops, seminars and concerts, the Academy for Contemporary Music in Lucerne explores the repertoire and aesthetics of music from the last 70 years. The Academy is open to students and other musicians – composers and performers alike – regardless of the degree of previous experience with contemporary music.

Participants receive individual and group instruction from a diverse group of instructors and lecturers, which includes members of leading European ensembles for contemporary music as well as internationally renowned soloists and educators. Composers and performers are provided several formats for working with one another above and beyond individual and group instruction.

Both in the classroom and in the form of lectures and discussions, we will be examining together with the composers-in-residence (2023: Katharina Rosenberger, Bernhard Lang) issues that are central to the understanding and performance of contemporary music.

The Academy takes place each year in February.

Active participation for students with proof of enrollment at an institution: 220 CHF
Active participation for non-students: 400 CHF
Passive participants: 30 CHF per day
The Academy is free for students of the Lucerne School of Music

Participants will be admitted as long as there are still places available.

ECTS Points

Students of the Hochschule Luzern – Musik receive credit points for attendance, outside students can apply for credit points at their respective institutions, proof of attendance will be provided.
