On this page, you will find all the important information about registration and fees for the entrance examinations.

If you have already completed two Master's degree programmes in Switzerland, please contact the student advisory service or the corresponding study coordination before registering.

Facts

Application deadline

The application deadline for all degree programmes is 28 February (in a leap year on 29 February).

External applications

Registration for all degree programmes takes place exclusively online (see following links) or directly via the corresponding degree programme website (under «New students register here»).

Note: You can interrupt the registration process at any time and continue later without losing the information you have entered. Once you have completed your data entries with «Binding registration», you can no longer change your details. 

 

Internal applications

For applications of persons already studying at the Lucerne School of Music, a specific registration link is available (or on the corresponding degree programme websites under the box «HSLU Music students register here»).

 

Documents to be submitted for all degree programmes
  • matriculation number
  • national insurance number
  • portrait photo as JPG (high quality)
  • copy of identity card or passport
  • curriculum vitae in tabular form with detailed information on musical training
  • letter of motivation
  • transcript of records
  • diplomas
  • confirmation of exmatriculation in the case of previous studies at a Swiss higher education institution
Registration and examination fee
  • Fee for individual:
    CHF 200 per entrance examination (will be credited upon enrolment)
  • Fee for chamber music ensemble (total):
    CHF 200
  • Admission fees are due at the time of online-registration for the entrance examination

Confirmation

After you have registered bindingly, you will receive a confirmation of receipt by e-mail. Your dossier will be checked within three weeks of your registration.

Language skills

We would like to point out that knowledge of German is not required for the entrance examination, but that a few weeks before the start of studies, knowledge of the German language must be proven in a language test. For most degree programmes, it is possible to submit a language certificate one level below the required minimum. In such cases, a certificate at the actual required minimum level (see below) must be obtained at the language centre of the Lucerne School of Applied Sciences and Art within the first two semesters. Detailed information will be provided with the study place offer.

 

  • B2 level for all Bachelor's degree programmes
  • C1 level for Bachelor of Arts/Music and Movement
  • B1 level for all Master's programmes, except:
  • B2 level for Major Instrumental/Vocal Pedagogy and Major Church Music
  • C1 level for Major Music Theory and Major School Music II
  • B1 level for Doctorate programmes (and English C1 level)

We will inform you after the entrance examination whether you have to take a language test.
