What to expect
The Lucerne School of Music has a long tradition of church music. The bachelor’s degree programme is closely linked to practice.
Key elements of this programme include practical experience of worship and concert performance, in particular in Lucerne's Jesuit Church as well as in other churches in the town and region.
The professional qualification provided by the bachelor's degree in Church Music enables graduates to assume responsibility for the musical life of a small or medium-sized parish and to act as «cultural mentors» in an increasingly diverse setting. Graduates are qualified to work as organists, choral conductors and choirmasters. They are able to conduct secular choirs and instrumental ensembles, are familiar with a range of musical styles and are capable of improvising.
