Studienschwerpunkte
Das Masterstudium ist in Pflicht- und Wahlmodule gegliedert. Die Studienschwerpunkte, welche für alle Studierenden Pflicht sind: Wirtschaftsinformatik und Projektarbeiten. Die Modulgruppe Wirtschaftsinformatik vermittelt auf der Master-Stufe wesentliche Kompetenzen der Wirtschaftsinformatik und der Digitalen Transformation, diese sind beispielsweise Digitale Transformation, Business Process Performance Management, Business Intelligence oder IT Management. In der Modulgruppe Projektarbeiten wenden die Studierenden ihr erworbenes Wissen praktisch an und setzen dieses konkret in Forschungs- und Innovationsprojekten um. Am Ende des Studiums erarbeiten Sie individuell eine Master Thesis, in der Sie Ihre erworbenen fachlichen, methodischen und wissenschaftlichen Kompetenzen einsetzen.


Bei den Wahlpflichtmodulen wählen Sie innerhalb der angebotenen Module aus, dass Sie 15 Credits leisten – Restriktionen in der Kombination sind möglich. Der Studienschwerpunkt kann so individuell gelegt werden. 
Sie entwickeln Kompetenzen unter anderem in der systematischen Entwicklung von digitalen Geschäftsmodellen, dem Gestalten von prozessorientierten Unternehmensorganisationen oder dem Aufbau von relevanten Daten für die Umwandlung in wertvolle Informationen. 

Tätigkeitsfelder
Der Master in Wirtschaftsinformatik bietet vielfältige Berufsaussichten in einem breiten Branchenumfeld. Als Absolventin oder Absolvent haben Sie praxisnahes und wissenschaftlich fundiertes Wissen. Sie sind unter anderem in der Lage, digitale Geschäftsmodelle zu entwerfen, IT-Architekturen zur optimalen Unterstützung der digitalen Unternehmensziele zu gestalten oder Datenstrukturen und Organisationen von Datenbeständen derart aufzubauen, dass sie in strategisch und operativ wertvolle Informationen umgewandelt werden können. 

Kooperationspartner
Der Master of Science in Wirtschaftsinformatik wird in Kooperation mit der Fachhochschule St. Gallen sowie der Berner Fachhochschule durchgeführt. Dies bedeutet nebst den Studienorten Rotkreuz und Zürich auch einen wertvollen Austausch zwischen den drei Fachhochschulen von dem Sie fachlich und auch persönlich profitieren können. Die drei Partnerschulen bringen jeweils ihre Spezialgebiete in das Curriculum ein.

Infrastruktur
Der Kontaktunterricht findet in der Nähe des Hauptbahnhofs Zürich im KV statt. Projektarbeiten sowie sonstige Module finden am Campus Zug-Rotkreuz an der Hochschule Luzern – Informatik in Rotkreuz statt.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the MSc in Business Information Technology have practical and scientifically profound skills and knowledge in the field. You will be able to:

  • use information technologies to ensure the implementation and realization of corporate strategies as well as sustainable IT systems infrastructure in a company
  • design business models while taking into account aspects of organizational development
  • use specific information and communication systems to create process-oriented corporate organizations 
  • create IT architectures for the optimal support of the corporate goals and for the planning, realization and operation of application systems 
  • design data structures and organizations that can be transformed into strategically and operationally valuable information 
  • systematically embed and supervise data quality management in a company
  • assume a managerial role in the fields of information technology and organization
  • manage large and complex projects, even in exceptional circumstances

Field of activity

Graduates have excellent long-term career and promotion prospects. They are well-suited to address challenging specialist and managerial tasks in the fields of information and process management, as well as software development and evaluation.  They also have the necessary skills to assume managerial positions in SMEs and leadership roles in corporate project management and organizational development or as business analysts. Possible future employers include software developers, management consultancies and IT divisions of private sector and non-profit organizations across industries.

The following entry requirements are in place for admission to the MSc in Business Information Technology program:

  • BSc in Business Information Technology
  • BSc in Business Administration
  • BSc in Business Engineering | Innovation
  • BSc in Information Technology
  • Final grade of at least 4.5 (average) for the BSc
  • High degree of motivation and commitment
  • Positive admission interview result
  • You must provide evidence of German proficiency corresponding to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference

International

Students have the opportunity to attend one semester of the program abroad. They can either pick a university from a list of cooperation partners or independently establish contact with a university level institution and go abroad as a “free mover”.

Place of study

Rotkreuz and Zurich: The degree program is a cooperation between the Lucerne School of Information Technology, the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and the St. Gallen University of Applied Sciences (FHS).

The consecutive Master of Science in Business Information Technology is an equally research-based and practical higher-level specialist and management education with an international appeal. Teaching and training culture

Contact study, supervised self-study and independent self-study are combined and linked up in a meaningful way.  To ensure that the scientific and the practical aspects of the program content complement each other to perfection, faculty members teaching at Master’s level all have an extensive academic and practical background.

Services

The Lucerne School of Information Technology offers the following services to students:

Smart-up is designed to motivate students and to enable them to pursue their own business interests, to implement them and to found their own startup company. Students looking to build their own company are given support in the shape of personal coaching and counseling, infrastructure, match-making with other students and external stakeholders as well as workshops and events.

Careers Service supports students with a range of activities and offers around the launch of their career and their career planning. Be it the mentor or the sponsorship program, job fairs or contact exchanges, the School collaborates with various partners to create support formats to cater to the needs of all its students.

The Language Center of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts offers education and continuing education that reaches far beyond the requirements of the study programs and thus promotes internationality. With these courses, the university takes the growing importance of language skills in an increasingly mobile society into account.

 

Cross-disciplinary modules

Together with the University of Teacher Education Lucerne and the University of Lucerne, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts offers interdisciplinary modules of general interest. Focusing on issues as diverse as culture, business, technology, law, politics or ethics, the ISA modules facilitate collaboration across disciplines and broaden the participants’ horizons.
