Educational Requirements
To study at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, a Swiss Matura, vocational baccalaureate, specialized baccalaureate, or an equivalent qualification is required.
Applicants with a Higher Technical College (HF) qualification in a relevant field may also be admitted. Credit transfer for completed modules may be requested.
The admission study program enables individuals without a vocational baccalaureate, academic high school diploma, or HF qualification, but with completed vocational training and several years of professional experience, to enter the Bachelor’s program.
If you are unsure whether you meet the admission requirements, you can consult the overview of the Swiss education system to check whether your highest qualification entitles you to study.
Professional Experience
Relevant technical professions and technical vocational baccalaureate:
With a relevant technical profession and a technical vocational baccalaureate or a Higher Technical College qualification, you are ideally prepared and can enter the Bachelor’s program without any additional requirements. Please verify whether your qualification is considered a relevant professional qualification.
Non-relevant professions with vocational baccalaureate:
If you hold a non-relevant professional qualification with a vocational baccalaureate, you must complete a professional internship before the start of your studies (full-time) or during your studies (part-time).
Commercial professions
After completing commercial vocational training and obtaining the business vocational baccalaureate, you are admitted directly to the program without the need for an internship. Recommended is a voluntary participation in the preparatory mathematics course or the Mathematics Basics convergence module to ensure a smooth transition into the Mathematics and Physics modules. In addition, the block week “Metalworking Workshop” must be completed.
Academic high school diploma
Do you want to start your studies directly after completing your academic high school diploma?
With the Practice-integrated bachelor’s program (PiBS), you are admitted directly after the academic high school diploma and can acquire the missing practical competencies through a tailored internship with one of our industry partners in a work-study format. Learn more about the PiBS model, which seamlessly combines theory and practice.
Alternatively, applicants with a Swiss academic high school diploma (Matura) may be admitted to the full-time program. The required internship is arranged individually in consultation and must be completed before the start of the second year of study.
