Information for business partners

Wirtschaftspartner

The Thermal Energy Storage Competence Centre works closely with industrial companies, energy suppliers, partner institutions and associations to advance research and development. We conduct research in direct collaboration with companies, in Switzerland-wide and Europe-wide networks, in basic research and concrete application projects.

Together with you, we look for the important research questions, their solutions and possible funding. The spectrum ranges from student projects to start-up projects (e.g. financed via Innovation Cheque) to innovation projects supported by the federal government (Innosuisse).

Information for students

Studierende

Gain insight into the current research on thermal energy storage.

CC TES passes on its knowledge to young, future engineers by participating in various theory modules in the Bachelor's degree programmes in Mechanical Engineering and Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering. Interested Bachelor's and Master's students are offered the opportunity to carry out course work with current research relevance. The focus is on experimental, simulation-based, data science or assessment methods. We also offer the opportunity to do a doctorate with us.

We are part of the StoRIES project, which enables research at 64 world-class European research infrastructures dealing with energy storage and related topics (from battery materials to energy grid design) If you would like to advance your work in our labs, apply now for a StoRIES call.

Student research projects

The research staff of the CC TES offer you support if you are interested in writing a student research project in the field of thermal energy storage. On the one hand, you will benefit from a broad range of expertise and, on the other hand, you will have the opportunity to use the comprehensive and unique infrastructure of the CC TES at the HSLU. You will become part of the current research work and gain insight into innovative, future applications and concepts that are necessary to achieve the energy transition.

For students of the Mechanical Engineering and Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering degree programmes, CC TES announces various topics for specialisation projects and bachelor's theses every semester. In consultation with the lecturers, it is also possible to propose your own topic. Students from other disciplines are of course also welcome to write a student research project at CC TES. Master's students can write their specialisation project and master's thesis at the Competence Centre Thermal Energy Storage, in consultation with their advisor.
