Medical Diagnostics and Material Testing

Chemical analysis, materials testing and diagnostics are key areas that make it possible to unravel the hidden secrets of science and drive innovation. Through precise analytical methods and state-of-the-art testing technologies, the research group at the Bioscience and Medical Engineering Competence Center creates a basis for safe and effective medical applications. From the characterization of new materials to the development of diagnostic methods, tailor-made solutions are developed in close cooperation with partners from industry and research.

Main research topics

Toxicity Assay 2 Probenahme aus Abgasen für Zytotoxizitätstest

Cytotoxicity of fumes

In part 1, a method for the direct sampling of exhaust gases from wood combustion plants with subsequent determination of the cytotoxicity of the applied cell nutrient media is developed. In part 2, the exhaust gases of different types of combustion are compared with each other in order to compare the qualitative health relevance. The competence center "Biosciences and Medical Engineering" provides the expertise and infrastructure for biological cell tests.
