Bioscience and Medical Engineering Competence Center in Biomedical Space Research and Medical Engineering

The Center of Competence specializes in biomedical research in the fields of regenerative medicine, cardiology and reproductive medicine. Furthermore, the CC develops bioreactors to analyze the potential of algae and yeast.

HSLU Medtech Joint Venture

The Medtech Joint Venture specifically combines the expertise of the Competence Center Bioscience and Medical Engineering of the Lucerne School of Engineering & Architecture and the Algorithmic Business Research Lab of the Lucerne School of Computer Science. This results in a trend-setting exchange platform for medical engineering research as well as for joint doctoral students.

Robotic dog on the moon

The European Space Agency ESA has launched a competition in which teams from Europe and Canada were to develop robots that can autonomously search for raw materials on the moon. Scientists Florian Kehl from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Philip Arm made it to the final round.

New opening of microbiology lab

Together with the Institute for Building Technology and Energy, the Institute of Medical Engineering now operates a microbiological analysis laboratory of protection level 2. Here, the use of pathogenic microorganisms for studies is possible.

Update

On the way to Mars

The GLIMPSE research robot was built by the UZH Space Hub, the ETH Robotic Systems Lab, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and the University of Basel and is designed to search for resources at the shadow poles of the moon.
