Thermal energy systems are ever-present. Whether in domestic households or in industrial processes: Thermal energy systems are often energy-intensive. With practical research, the Competence Center achieves greater energy efficiency and environmental compatibility in a wide range of thermal energy systems.

A large proportion of the energy required by industrial processes is often attributable to thermal energies. Through energy and pinch analyses, the Competence Center identifies the energy and costs savings potential of industrial clients and develops measures to increase efficiency.

There are many applications of sorption for substance separation. One example is the separation of odorous substances in kitchen hoods. The Competence Center supports its partners and clients in the analysis of sorption processes and the measurement of relevant parameters of sorption materials.

Generating usable cooling with waste heat from processes: This and more are possible with systems such as absorption heat pumps. Together with partners and clients, the Competence Center develops sorption processes for heat and cold supply and storage.

Biomass can be used to generate heat and electricity in a renewable and CO2-neutral way. Together with partners and clients, the Competence Center develops new combus-tion concepts and derives optimization measures for existing biomass combustion plants, for example to increase efficiency.

Pollutant Reduction of Combustion Processes

Fine dust from combustion processes is harmful to health. The Competence Center examines the wood combustion systems of partners and clients for fine dust emissions, the formation mechanism behind them and develops measures to reduce fine dust emissions.
