Anidoc

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Design Film Art offers the only university-level animation programme in Switzerland. In conjunction with the Master’s in Animation, the Master’s in Documentary and Experimental Film can therefore offer a specialisation in animated documentary (Anidoc).

Limits (CH 2022)

In this focus, the two cinematic genres are examined for their commonalities, and the areas in which they complement one another are identified. The connection between photographically produced images and reality has been increasingly called into question over recent decades. The narration of reality has evolved into a practice of subjective perspectives and particular viewpoints through which the historical world is discursively appropriated. The Anidoc is a reflexive approach to engaging with reality through speculative and argumentative images. In the Anidoc focus, we are interested in the possibilities arising from the collaboration between documentary filmmakers and animation artists, and in the genre that emerges between the two.

Through the collaboration between the MA in Documentary and Experimental Film and the MA in Animation, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is one of the few educational institutions internationally that can offer Anidoc as a specialisation.
