Generally, Universities of Applied Sciences are more practical orientated with the goal of educating students for professional work life. They do so by combining theory and practice in a unique way. Traditional Universities on the other hand are traditionally more research oriented.

The work experience must include practical and theoretical knowledge in an occupation related to the field of study.

At the Lucerne School of Business we believe in the active dialogue between students and lectures. Therefore, most of our classes are take place in a face-to-face setting. Pure online sessions are the exception.

Normally, we have about 30–35 students in our common core modules.

Here you will find an example of a timetable for the first semester in the full-time model. The part-time model is not currently offered.
Class times may vary between students and semesters. The example does not guarantee a specific timetable (weekday/time slot).

Graduates of the International Bachelor of Business Administration programme can work in various fields:

• International management: roles in strategy, business development and operational processes.
• Marketing and sales: responsibility for international market entry, customer relations and market research.
• Finance: Activities in financial analysis, controlling and international accounting.
• Consulting: Supporting companies with global expansion strategies or the optimisation of business processes.

As a Swiss student you need a “Berufsmaturität Ausrichtung Wirtschaft/Dienstleistungen” or «Gymnasiale Matura». If you graduated abroad you need to check the swissuniversities website or send us your graduation certificate so we can check it. All applicants need to have an English language level of C1 or better, and all applicants must have at least one year of work experience which must include practical and theoretical knowledge in an occupation related to the field of study.

You need to hand in a valid certificate before the programme starts. The following providers are accepted: CAE, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC.

There are more than 80 higher education institutions all over the world that HSLU is partnering with. It’s also possible to do an exchange at an institution which isn’t part our network.

Yes, it is also possible to do an exchange semester at a university that isn’t a partner institution. However, this needs to be organised by the student themselves.

Usually, our students go on exchange during their penultimate semester of the programme.

In most cases our students study just one semester abroad. However, it is also possible to study two semesters at another institution if approved by the head of the exchange programme.
