Applicants to the Bachelor in International Business Administration must
- have a higher secondary education certificate qualifying the holder for studies at university level in his or her country of origin (Swiss students: ‘Berufsmaturität Ausrichtung Wirtschaft/Dienstleistungen’ or ‘Gymnasiale Matura’).
- Admission requirements for applicants from non-European countries differ by country. Applicants from non-European countries in which the education system is substantially different from that in Switzerland may be required to provide confirmation of their eligibility for acceptance to a bachelor’s degree programme or equivalent in Business Administration or Economics at a recognized higher education institution in the country where their school-leaving certificate was issued. For guidance on recognised upper secondary school-leaving certificates please consult the swissuniversities website.
- Information for International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced level and Advanced Placements.
- have a minimum of one year's qualified full-time work experience in a business-related area (Swiss students: Persons with a ‘Kaufmännische Berufslehre’ fulfill this requirement)
- provide evidence of English proficiency corresponding to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference, if they are non-native speakers of English. Such evidence must be available by the end of July at the latest. 'Academic IELTS' or 'TOEFL' should have first priority for students who are considering the possibility of an overseas exchange semester as a part of their degree programme, as these certificates are often a prerequisite for acceptance by host institutions.

Qualifications in Financial Accounting
At the start of their studies, all students are expected to have mastered the basics of accounting for the commercial vocational baccalaureate. The accounting self-test (only in German) can be used to determine the current level of knowledge and here you will find the solutions.
For those who have gaps in their previous knowledge or would like to refresh their knowledge, the Institute of Financial Services Zug IFZ offers various preparatory events in the area of accounting. They take place from April to August.
Information on the course in 2026 can be found here (only in German).
Qualifications in Mathematics
Completing a self-assessment test will help you determine whether you possess the mathematics skills expected of students entering the IBA programme. If you encounter difficulties with the self-assessment test, we recommend that you consult the online preparatory course and the corresponding online test. Please note that the online preparatory course and the online test (tuition in German) do not cover all mathematics topics included in the Vocational Baccalaureate curriculum.
German-speaking persons who do not meet the entrance qualifications for mathematics have the opportunity to attend one of the Lucerne School of Business's preparation courses in mathematics (tuition in German). Information can be found here.
The Lucerne School of Business offers the following preparatory courses. They are intended for people who do not have the knowledge and skills required for the vocational baccalaureate specialising in business and services.
