Overview
Clinical environments often expose patients to stressful noise, which can impair wellbeing and slow recovery. Evidence suggests that natural soundscapes can reduce stress and support physiological regulation. This project tests Spatial Soundscapes in real hospital settings through field and laboratory experiments, examining their effects on stress, wellbeing, and recovery across different departments and sound types. Stakeholder needs are integrated to ensure clinical feasibility. The goal is to develop an evidence-based, implementable model for soundscape use in healthcare, providing a non-invasive approach to enhance patient experience and support recovery.
