Overview
CIRRNET, the Critical Incident Reporting & Reacting NETwork, which is operated by the Swiss Patient Safety Foundation (SPS), fulfils a central network function as a supra-regional institution for local error reporting systems of service providers in the Swiss healthcare system. In the future, CIRRNET should establish itself more broadly as a national reporting platform for critical incidents and as a database and make a greater contribution to increasing patient safety. In order to achieve this, the Federal Quality Commission (EQC) has commissioned a study that will firstly provide a basis for decisions on the further development of CIRRNET as a standardised national reporting platform for all types of service providers in accordance with Art. 35 Para. 2 KVG, as well as concrete implementation recommendations on how to proceed. Secondly, the study should develop implementation measures for how feedback from CIRRNET can lead to effective improvement measures for service providers. The project is being realised in collaboration with Interface Politikstudien Forschung Beratung AG and the Swiss Patient Safety Foundation. The project team is supported by an advisory board.
